Guys,
While we are working on getting the 13 Update ship shape to ship to Matrix and working on Southern Storm, I find myself lacking some information for the proper organizational levels of many non-US armies and the associated rank (and proper rank abbreviation) of the of the highest HQ leader. As an example for the US, I have the following.
Code: Select all
HQ Level Rank(s) Rank Abr
Corps Lt. General LGn.
Division Major General MG.
Regiment / Brigade Colonel Col.
Battalion/Squadron Lt. Colonel LtC.
Company/Troop Captain Cpt.
Platoon Lieutenant 1Lt.
Squad/Section Staff Sergeant SSsg.
I am looking for similar information for the Soviets, East and West Germans,
Poland,
France,
UK, Belguim, Netherlands, Canada, Czechs, Denmark. Anyone who provided information or a good pointer to information can give me there Surname/Country and it will be added to the new data tab for leader names.
Complete Nations are underlined - Thanks again to those pitching in! [&o]
Thanks. [&o]

The Brits are just about exactly the same as US.
Some British Army battalions use strange terms for Sergeant, eg Corporal-of-Horse, the origin of which is deep in unit history but everybody else just understands it as another term for Sergeant, so just ignore it and use Sergeant.
Hope this helps,
B

Here you go Capn Darwin. I use these TO&E charts for my mission making in other games I play. I think you will find this useful. Scroll down to bottom of page for the "modern warfare/Cold War" TO&Es.
Fire and Fury TO&Es PDFs
Cheers.
P.S. Looks like I did not read your request carefully. Never-the-less, perhaps someone will find these useful.

This is a pet peeve, but when using US Army rank abr it would be nice to use official US Army rank abr: LTG, MG, COL, LTC, CPT, 1LT, SSG, etc. Also Co for company and not Coy, Bn, Bde, etc. Just a suggestion. Or make this stuff editable in a file? Whatever works.

Pzgndr, I can fix to caps and yes this info is in a new command tab in the Southern Storm data files so you can edit as you like for your scenario work.

Almost but not quite, there's a quite a bit of difference in command ranks:
Code: Select all
HQ Level Rank(s) Rank Abr
Corps Lt. General Lt Gen
Division Major General Maj Gen
Brigade Brigadier Brig
Battalion/Regiment Colonel/Lt. Colonel Col /Lt Col
Company/Squadron Major/Captain Maj / Capt
Platoon/Troop Lieutenant/2nd Lt. Lt / 2Lt
Section Corporal Cpl
Battalions are usually commanded (the CO) by Lt Col but the senior battalion commander in a Regt. is a Col.
Companys or Squadrons are commanded (the OC) by Majors with Captains as 2nd in command (2ic) but there are Coys (or Sqns) with Capts in charge.
Platoons or Troops can be commanded by either Lts or 2Lts.
Sections are commanded by Corporal with Lance Corporals as 2ic. Some sections have been known to be commanded by L/Cpls. Sergeants are platoon sergeants only but have been known to command platoons in wartime.
