Audio Not Working Upon Return to Game After Several Months

Hello all,
I would like to get feedback from others - has anyone else been experiencing any audio issues in the past several months?
So I've been away from the game for awhile. In that time I haven't made any changes to my WitPAE install, but when I went to re-start the game, there is NO audio (no music, interface sound, or effects).
The only thing I can think of that has changed in the meantime is I have been updating Windows 10 - perhaps something changed that interferes with WitPAE's sound?
I've tried other games that pre-date WitPAE and they all work fine. There are not any sound issues with any other apps/games. I backed up the WitPAE directory then did a complete reinstall to 1126b, as well as (re)installed the DirectX June 2010 Runtimes (found here). Still no luck.
I can play the .sfx sound files in the WitPAE sound directory outside of the game just fine - they sound great. And yes, I made sure the audio wasn't muted in-game and even turned the volume up/down on multiple settings for good measure. Is there a hotkey or another setting perhaps that I'm overlooking?
Everything else about WitPAE seems to be in order - the interface is responsive, animations work fine, etc.
For reference -
My WitPAE command line is as follows:
"D:\Non Steam Games\War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -wd -pxf1920 -pyf1080 -archive -deepColor -multiaudio -dd_sw -altFont -skipVideo
My version of Windows is:
Windows 10 14393.1480 (RS1)
My sound devices are:
Realtek ALC889 (integreated audio)
Plantronics GameCom 780 Headset (USB device - treated as a separate sound device)
*no audio for WitPAE on either device
If you'd like any other info, just let me know.
Thanks in advance!

So I could either have a working WitPAE or a working start button. Not good...
