I'm working on a mod that starts the game in 1936 with Spain divided into 2 active minors one under USSR control and the other under Italian. i cannot work out how to Give the Spanish Republic a capital city and boarder from Nationalist Spain.

The first thing you'll need to do is to assign some territory to the Republic, including Madrid but not Burgos.

To do this you'll need to be in the Edit Hex Layer mode (see page 119 of the Manual if you're not sure) and with the select option selected.

Left click on all the hexes that you wish to belong to the Republic.

Then right click and change the control and ownership of all the hexes that you have selected.

Then switch to the Resource layer, make sure the draw tool is selected, right click on Madrid and left click on Burgos.

Madrid is now the Republic's capital, while Burgos is now the Nationalists. Of course, if you wish to choose different locations for their capitals then do so, but those are the ones I would use.
