Can't update game; ERROR; FAILED TO DOWNLOAD FTP FILE

Server seems down as a friend of mine is getting the same as I get with a new install;
Get game in V1.00, select UPDATE; creating handle....ERROR, UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD FILE. AN ERROR OCCURED WHILE TRYING TO OPEN AN FTP FILE.
Can you please let us know when this will be fixed?

You may have a common problem when using the check for update button. Instead suggest you download directly from Matrix site. I've had to do this not only on this game but also on several others.

Yeah, but, this is pretty weird, this NEVER happened to me before, only after a re-install.
The updates are posted as winzip files, what if people don't have winzip (it's not for free, costs about $40,00)...
Pretty bad support I'd say...
Not sure what to do now, can't play the game...
