Combat efficiency

I am confused about combat efficiency. The manual states that the Combat Efficiency check is made against the "parent" HQ. So if I have a platoon fire and it requires a CE check, will it check against the company HQ or the battalion HQ? Is the platoon's company HQ considered a "parent" HQ?

----Additionally, each friendly non-Isolated Headquarters will conduct a check to see if it maintains Combat Efficiency.---

Normally a unit has to fire to conduct a CE check. However the above statement indicates that HQ's check CE even if they haven't fired. So does this mean that company HQs will conduct a CE check even if the company HQ has not fired during the turn?

-----If the units “parent” Headquarters is not on the map, the program will search for the next Headquarters that commands the unit;----

So if the parent HQ is still on the map but has not maintained CE, will the program search for the next higher "parent" HQ to make a CE check?

Thanks.

When playing with Command Control option check ON, yes. The company HQ is considered.

That is correct with the option on or off.

Ok, great that makes sense.

Let me make sure I understand:

Assuming Command Control option is on:

1. Starting with brigade HQ moving to battalion HQ and then company HQ, each HQ makes a Combat Efficiency check to determine which HQs lose combat efficiency.

2. Then each combat unit which fired the previous turn makes a check to determine if they have lost CE. The parent HQ used to determine chance of losing CE is the first parent HQ which has not lost Combat efficiency-beginning with company HQ, then battalion HQ, then brigade HQ. If the firing unit fails that test, then a check is made against the universal ammo percentage. If that check also fails, then the firing unit loses combat efficiency.

The exact same process is used to regain CE except the final test against universal ammo percentage is skipped.

Sounds about right?

Thanks!

BTW, this is a very good game. I especially like the wide variety of equipment that you rarely see in a war game. Where else can you find AMX-13s in a scenario and have them dominate the scenario...

You're welcome, Jagger!

Glad you're enjoying the game so far! There is a tonne of equipment in the order of battles, so many things that you could make yourself to try out different battle types and equipment.

But yes, I tried to recreate those scenarios as accurately as I could with the equipment that would have been there. It's not perfect, but should be pretty darn close!

There will be many improvements with the pending 2.00 release for Middle East. These improvements will be included in all future games as well.
