Back from holidays I have read on the forum strong critics against the work done by Denniss and Morvael.

I just want to thank them for the continuous work they do to keep this game alive and fun!

I think this is a brilliantly designed game. I think of all the war games out there that tries to give the gamer a feel for Operation Barbarossa. Locked ZOC don't do it .. second armor impulses don't do it ..fluid zones of control with 8:1 overrun does not do it as in the board game war in the East from SSI .. the Russians make a checker board pattern and slowly retreat .. WITE really gives the player the appreciation of maneuver and pocketing of whole Armies that was the blitzkrieg strategy of the day ..then add the GG details that separate the good bad and ugly play .. and you have a very playable game that lives a long time.
There will always be a religious argument around "historical simulation" and I propose playability. A game has decisions and outcomes that produce enjoyment. A simulation is a nice PhD project but tends not to be as enjoyable for participants. A lunar lander simulation keeps your attention for 15 minutes until you figure out the parameters and reproduce "success". An historical simulation has similar patterns of use and play.

I also think the supporters of this game have kept true to a war GAME while given players a feel for history. A very fine balance indeed.

WITE give me a lot of fun. And as a former software developer I do understand how difficult to make such a complicate system work.

I also want to point out that the game can hardly make any profit because it has too little player than other popular games. Anyone who contributed to it is not for money but just enthusiasm.[&o]

Great thanks to the developer team and any one who contributed to the game.
WITE is such a unique type of game and I REALLY hope it will continue to getting better.[:D]

Having worked in IT for many years, primarily as a software tester, I am amazed at the quality of this product and that it is free. To all those who have soldiered on, well done, most appreciative.
