I have a Dell Inspiron with a intel quad core 2.33 ghz cpu that is too slow to run the game in med/large scenarios.
I'm thinking of building my own PC with an AMD A6-6400K 3.9 GHz dual core processor.
Will this fix my slow run problem and what other recommendations does anybody have.

P.S. I'm an older fellow who started out in Squad Leader board game when it first came out and love the game.
Can't wait to try the larger scenario/campaign ones.

Tigers on the Hunt is very CPU heavy as there is a lot of processing for stuff like AI, pathfinding and Line of sight processing. So having a better/faster CPU will help a lot with larger scenarios. The game was not specifically written from ground up to support multi-core CPUs, however the game does utilize multi-core CPUs to increase performance. Computer memory and graphics card are not as important compared to other games released these days.

A faster PC will help some but will not alleviate the problem. I found that it's the number of units that has the most impact rather than the size of the map. Man, it's not just you and if you brows through the TotH forum you will find many posts discussing this issue. We take the limitations of TotH into consideration when selecting scenarios to play. So, save your money from buying a new PC. Yet, I used the excuse of my PC running too slow to play the game to buy a new PC with all the bells and whistles. SeeYa![:)]

The time lag between movements I'm experiencing is up to 3 MINUTES.
I'm not talking seconds here.
If I could get 5-10 seconds like some are complaining about, I would be thrilled!

My laptop is basic and run very well complex games eater CPU as combat mission or total war etc ...
If the program is well designed, it runs on low config and avoids the purchase of more powerful computer.
This is also that the genius of game designers![:)]

You could try to use the free program called Razer Cortex. It frees up resources on your computer for gaming. I use it on my Laptop and it works well. Also always play with the power cord attached, makes the CPU work at full speed.

Yes Paullus, I to use Razer Cortex and the game plays much faster through my laptop. I'm testing a couple of larger
future designs and so far speed hasn't degraded.[:)]

What would be better an intel i5 at 3.5 or a i3 at 3.9gz.

I would go for the i5. It has 4 cores and 8 threads while the i3 only has 2 cores and 4 threads. The i5 will be more powerful.
