How Does Combat Work Precisely?

I've been delving into the combat system and some things i don't understand... (all assuming A new Dawn)

First: When I do an Artillery attack the artillery attacks with a value of 100, while the ART value is listed at 400? (only attacking infantry, before penalties/bonuses). And when I attack with Light tanks, the attack value listed is only 130, while the value in the description says 1300.

The only thing i can think of is that the tooltip damage lists the combined attack value. Is that true?

Second: After bonus/penalty calculations you might have something like 34,8 attack strength and 131 defense strength. How is then the hit/pinned/miss calculated? The combat log doesn't seem to describe that.

thz in advance!

This link describes it in some detail, although it is still a bit confusing exactly what goes on.

As for why the artillery does an attack with a value of 100, but is listed at 400. This is because the artillery have four attacks with a strength of 100, 4x100=400. This fooled me a few times as well. In the editor, under the "Combat Detail Stats" matrix, it shows a combat Att Power of 100 (also artillery value), but in the game, if you look at the stats, it will show up as 400, but I also believe that it will show that they have four attacks.

@ormand, thz for confirming the 4x100.... that was the only thing that made sense... does alter the perceived power of units somewhat.... And the link was a good read.. thz
