[RESOLVED] Issue opening documents

To the powers that be at Matrix. I want to be able to read the "What's New" file in the "Manuals" section of the game file tonight. I am an old Matrix consumer. I have 60+ games on the members registered games section. So happens I have Microsoft Office (apparently necessary to read the file in question) on my offices computers, however, I don't want it on this computer (or to drive down to my office to get it) and I don't want a Microsoft Account on this computer, so I can try office on a trial arrangement just so I can read a file on a game I purchased in good faith. I no longer have time or the frustration tolerance for this type of bullshit. I know this threat will leave you trembling, however, in the event I do not receive said "what's new" file tonight in a format I can open without complication (ie. Acrobat/Adobe) (before midnight) eastern time, I am done with Matrix. This is supposed to be a hobby, something to enjoy in one's leisure time. Frustration and anger are not conducive to leisure.

If you had asked someone probably would have provided it. With that attitude I'm not going to take effort to supply it.

Kamerad, the manual and the What's New stuff are easily accessible.

Both documents, .PDF and .DOC are in the \The Operational Art of War IV\Manuals
folder.

I saved the word doc as a pdf then had to zip it so that it was a recognizable file type to upload. Hope this helps.

Thank you guys. And my apologies to Matrix for the rant. It has been a bad week. Thanks again. And sorry again; my post was inappropriate.

While its great you apologized...what the heck is wrong with some people on this forum. Idiots running around claiming Matrix robbed them, bait & Switched, scammed, providing incomplete products, etc. I've never seen anything like this around TOAW before. Its been around over 20 years and people are ranting about the stupidest stuff without ever looking into it before posting a rant.

I actually see that as a good thing. It means that new people are willing to check it out.

Its a good thing unless you are looking to purchase and get scared off by it. I saw on another wargaming forum that some people are concerned about what they are reading on this forum and some threads.

Agree that these inappropriate rants demonstrate some offensive laziness and that includes this one by the OP, who is not 'new people,' owning 60+ Matrix games by own admission.

Of course it's possible to see the silver lining in any cloud but it's a stretch in this case.

What's wrong with people? what's next, a guy complaining that the game require a keyboard to play?

Once again, I agree with you.

Since this game was released it seems a lot of people suddenly got stupid.

I don't care who I offend here. WTF is wrong with these people who buy a wargame and then can't figure out how to do basic stuff on a computer that would have been taken for granted 10 years ago.

I find it incredible that this polished gem of a game would attract so many bloody idiots.

-moderators feel free to delete this. I'm v. angry and I apologise.

I wish we could all just get along. And that the people that
need help with their purchase get it. It's a hard world out
there and they have to live in it too. We don't know what kind
of life they are living, probably a student, poor, or a retired
guy on a fixed budget. It's easy to be offended with something
doesn't work right if you're already primed from life in
general. Let's work together and help each other.

If people get as mad as some of the ones here over a PC wargame, I am sure glad they are not backing me up on the real world battlefield. There might be some fratricide...[:D]

I agree with you. I really do.

Being poor isn't an excuse for being ignorant or downright stupid. A few days ago I debated with a guy who didn't want to read a manual because it was 2017

Well most of all I'm surprised by these attitudes. Specially considering that this genre tends to attract mature players. Is it always like that when a game is released?

No. Not at all.

I am also surprised at the vehemence shown. I have had a few problems but mostly self-inflicted. Ralph et.al. have been very helpful. There's a guy blaming Matrix for his phobia about Word![8|]
