I have a Windows 10 computer, 16 Gig RAM, 3.40 GHZ Processor AND if I boot up War Plan Orange I can wait seconds for the map to move or a menu to open. Any known workarounds?

not done one for this game, but can do one if needed, but same rules apply to almost all of them tbh, and will show simple tips and how to on almost everything on windows 10 to get a older game working

fix this by:

1.) Copying your War Plan Orange.exe and then renaming the copy WPO.exe

2.) Create a Text File labelled WPO_Affinity.txt

Inside that text file, put:

start /affinity 1 WPO.exe

Rename text file to

WPO_Affinity.bat

And run that every time you want to play WPO. It will start it in core affinity mode for the first CPU in your computer.

I tried this and it didn't work for me. I even tried the guide by zak and NO JOY. It went to the loading screen, loaded the files and then went blank. I could hear music in the background, but then nothing. I had to logout of Win 10 to get back to my main screen.

Not sure if dual video is the problem, though I can dedicate either one to the game.

i ask and do one just for this game and see if i can get my head around it, shouldn't be that hard as others so far have all worked fine, only 2 in the whole game collection refuse to work with windows 10 so far, but they were also fussy with windows 7 and 8 etc

BTW, are there any updated scenarios for WPO? The only one I have "WPO Dreadnaughts at War" has a couple of corrupted files. I have not been able to find another.

The few scenarios I have found are mainly for PBEM or hotseat which I don't do.

Thanks Zak - I reinstalled per your instructions and the game is finally playable for me after many months of trying everything I read on the boards. I am a fan of keeping it simple and you nailed it!

sorry i have no idea or knowledge of the mod part i'm sorry to say so hopefully someone else will chip in and post where if there still out there if there is any
