Unit Stuck after Overrun

Playing Middle East (67).
Mechanized unit did an overrun and advanced into a Dune.
It is now stuck and cannot move anywhere.
Doesn't seem correct.
Thanks,

Yeah. The dunes are a no go for motorized units. It shouldn't even be able to move into that hex even to overrun. Maybe not a bug but an oversight. You should probably put this in bugs too as a possible bug.

You shouldn't be able to attack into a hex you can't move in to, so that's just weird. Do you have a save game you can zip and post?

Looking at it closely, the unit is in hex 80,114, actually a sand hex.
It attacked from the road, which is a dunes hex, got the overrun and is now stuck surrounded by dunes.

Thanks, hex 80,114 is the end of this units movement path.

So, the unit can leave the road and enter the sand hex [80,114], but the there is no road in 80,114 to enable it to leave. If the unit is in supply, Disband it [and hopefully it doesn't return in the same hex!].

Scenario Designers may keep an eye out for these types of situations, as adding a 'road spur' can prevent it.

A good change might be: If you're in a hex that you can't enter except via a road, then you can only leave that hex via a road.

That doesn't sound like a scenario design problem but a game design problem. It is logical that if the unit can move out of a dunes road hex into adjacent hexes, it must be able to move into the dunes road hex from any adjacent hex. Otherwise, how does it get out of the dune/road hex in the first place unless there is a route out?
