Unsupplied units calculations aren't correct

Current manual informs that unsupplied units have a supply level drop by an amount equal to the number of half days in a turn.
That's also how it worked before on TOAW III.

Testing however i found that's not how it works on TOAW IV and believe this is a unintended.

Unsupplied units in full week turns scenarios are suffering a supply (and readiness) drop of 27 each turn (when it should be around 14).
Unsupplied units in half week turns scenarios are suffering a supply (and readiness) drop of 13 each turn (when it should be around 6/7).
I also tested on 1 day turn scenarios with the same results but obviously on these the effects aren't so severe.

This effect is verifiable either on new and old supplies rules alike.

These tests and effects can be easily replicable (tested on EA and Soviet Union 41 / full week turns and on CFNA 40-43 / half week turns).

This overrated supply drop on unsupplied units is far too severe to those units and to a balanced game flow.

Joao,

can you dump the .SAL or the test .SCE files? In those, did you use the overextended supply factor as well?

Sorry but i didn't keep any .sal files. But you just have to isolate a unit and run 2 or 3 turns of any of full / half week scenario and can easily verify what i'm refering to.

The overextended supply factor was also tested and it's working OK as described in the manual. Not only detecting correctly the overextended supply units but also on the "new" equipment deserting effects (100-unit proficiency %).

Curioulsy enough this "new" equipament deserting rule is working either under old and new supply rules. I find it a good upgrade regarding to the "old" rule that treated all units alike independently of their proficiency.

Joao, its fine [:)]

At least your unsupplied Russians pockets wont live for months, when i cut them off like in one of our previous games.

Time for a rematch if you interested.

Yes, the supply drop for cut off units is (# of hours a turn) * 27 / (# of hours a week) rounded to the nearest integer.

IMO the supply drop should take into account the unit size as well. HQs of larger formations carry more days worth of food, fuel and ammunition with them for distribution to subordinates during a campaign.

Glad to hear from you, Vince

EA at its present state isn't ready to be PBEM under TOAW IV. It still needs to be adapted to the new rules and features.

Furthermore TOAW IV variable initiative "bug" doesn't allow also a decent play. We'll have to wait for a new patch solving this bug.
