BACK AFTER YEARS

I think we need another sticky here.

I just quit Cold Turkey on my World of Warcrack habit, and am coming back to WITP/AE.

Question is - What should I be doing at the start - not strategy BUT

1) I have the latest official patch - should I grab something more?

2) I imagine I should get Tracker and IntelMonkey (and I think they are both easier to install and run now - no need for old Java). Anything else? I have this folder WITPStaff in my tools - what is that?

3) Any other programs I'm missing? And I know to look for Kull's where to move everything, anything else?

Forget WitpStaff, it did not get supported. I would also say I find Combat Reporter very useful and easy to setup and use.

Get the last 'beta' 1126b or some such. It fixes something rather important for the Allies late game, like a usable unrep. Something I consider quite useful. Also Andy Mac's AI updates. In addition to new AI files it corrects the omission of a Japanese army radar. Not sure but I think it includes newer AAA files and a dumbing down of the Japanese 'super E's' ASW capability. Although the later two may be elsewhere as well, not sure. Personally I don't use any outside programs, but to me its a user thing. Do if you wish, don't if you don't.

Edit: BTW welcome back. A good choice I might add.

Edit2: MN from 'da Bronx', big difference, no?[:)]

I'm a great believer in UNREP as I spent two years on USS BUTTE (AE-27).

I spent most of my naval career feet dry taking care of reservists, got stationed here, LIKED the place, wound up retiring here. Now I help make the toys they use out there (enlisted retirement not enough, but it does help when you have a real job).

Good advice. And yes, Andy did make a number of database fixes in his AI updates. They are sprinkled all over the place though, so here's a link to help you find 'em.

Sounds like you build Polaris snowmobiles and ATVs. Big boy toys! [:)]

Not what the locals use, what my former employer uses. AND the Air Force. And some Army stuff too (but my Army involvement is peripheral at best.

There is a BIG map for printing out - where is that file? I've seen some computer based planning things, not having any luck with the 'wall poster'.

I know it was available for sale but I am not sure there is a file available. Who can print an eight foot map anyway!

I found it - called AE_MAP_FULL. Can be printed out on 11x17, which is pretty big.

Like wegman, I am also returning to visit after years away.

I've update to the latest official patch, and have the beta.

Thanks Kull, for the links to the thread on AndyMac's multifarious scenarios [&o]

. . . where do I find the PWHEX - and/or whatever else I need - to apply stacking limits to all hexes in stock AE?

What do you need for your planes to upgrade??? I reread chapter 7 and missed any hints.

I have one of the Flying Tiger squadrons withdrawn to Calcutta, LOTS of supplies, Upgrade on, enough P-40E, a week and nothing.

'Enough P-40E" means 27.

Squadrons without withdrawal dates can upgrade with only a single plane in the pool, but ones with a withdrawal date need sufficient numbers in the pool necessary to bring the squadron to full strength before they will upgrade.

And you need a size 7 airfield, Calcutta needs some work to get it there.
