What is the range of aircraft that are "off map"?

We learnt from another thread that: If my bombers have a range of say 100 hexes and my fighters have a range of say 50 hexes, it is best to set the range of the bombers to 50 hexes to make sure they do fly out of range of their escorts.

In some scenarios airfields are "off map". In fact they are on a little pretend island on the map. The range of the bombers is 100 hexes but if you count the hexes on the map they are only 10 hexes from the enemy.

So, how should I set the range of my bombers and fighters in this case?

That's a good question. I guess the only way to know is graphically by hitting the i key to display the "DBR". Or this button

Off Map makes no difference, hex to hex count is the same. However, if ranged units are located in Distant Hexes, that does make a difference, off map or not.
