Could someone make these PNG's background transparent?

I've tweaked some of these files (added sharpness and clarity to mountains, added more scrubs in arid, created a stage station/cabin hex etc) for my Plains Indian Wars map WIP (120k hexes) and I don't own Photoshop. I tweaked them in lightroom, and when I load the game I get this. I would be grateful if someone could fix these so they will work in game

Or explain what I can do with paint/lightroom/Gimp to mod tiles and not have the above issue? I've looked for a tutorial but haven't found one

Nowadays I use Clip Studio Paint. It costs around 60 bucks which is not bad in comparison to other options like Photoshop.
Here are your tiles with the opacity fixed- It's not perfect, it works a lot better if you edit with the transparency channel intact.

Paint.net works well, and it is free. The classic III graphics were converted using it, found here:

I have Gimp and it is great for more in depth graphics I think, but this paint.net is awesome for quick things like transparency and cut/paste etc, it's like a more capable paint program.
I've turned the airports into a small outpost (for 1800's) and the nuclear into a fort type structure and took the concrete out of the urban hexes for towns etc. I'm about to attempt to put a different grassland type into the slot used by one of the urbans I don't need.

Just keep in mind that even if you change a terrain's appearance, the game keeps its original behavior.

I use GIMP pretty much exclusively for all work I do, while I use PSP for batch runs with scripts. I did a little how-to with GIMP for modding CS files, it has the transparency thing you asked as well. See
HERE. Hope it helps.

The holy grail of plugins for Paint.net is here
https://forums.getpaint.net/forum/44-plugin-packs/
BoldBait's and Pyrochild have the best collections. Amazing stuff. BoldBait has a very easy "transparency" plug in.
I just tweaked other people's work and added some of my own for SC3. Sipres counters (I made the Germans -20 transparent using BoldBait's plug in), Welch's map. I changed the map a little and added my own collection of German planes and my mod of the naval units.
