I appreciate all the ideas and suggestions I've received for new building icons; I don't believe I didn't think of some of them myself. :D

Here's a screencap showing a couple just added today:

Ohhh boy, this is gettin' better then in my wildest dreams

If you continue like this, we can't call it a patch anymore...this will be a fat new version :)

Great job guys...I can't wait to see the final result...

We should get a few scenarios assembled for the patch to show everybody what your new icons can do and to encourage other scenario makers to frequent make use of them...

..., but I don't want to disturb you, just continue :D

Thanks Leo. Sometime this weekend I'll snap a couple inventory screencaps showing all the additions so far and send them off.

The only updated file I don't have is Ter90 (special terrain icons): Rockin Harry has been loading that one up with non-building icons. Actually, you can put anything in that file, and then give the icon whatever properties you want. Placing icons in there requires good knowledge of the Editor, and Harry wrote the book on it! :D

Tracer,
Those look great!! Can't wait to try them. Is the hanger with the airplane sticking out a single icon or is the airplane a seperate icon?
Thanks for all the hard work. Thanks to Harry also.
Panzer Leo, will these be available for your next patch/upgrade/version?

Thanks; I'm getting a little psyched myself. :D
Its a single icon: a multihex stone building. I made 3-4 versions, facing different directions. Of course a map designer can edit the properties of any hex, so you may see them as single-hex structures too.

If Tracer does not change his mind and leaves country without a note, this cool stuff will be in :D

I sent you a PM giving a status report and also a link to where I keep the latest back-ups of the files...just in case I have an unexpected encounter with a bus and/or meteor. :D

Remember too that this is a work in progress. I did some finishing touches on the hangars yesterday: Image

Note: the above image is hypothetical; the Geneva Conventions would of course prevent a hospital from being on a military installation. :D

I don´t have screenshots, but I wrote some book instead!:D Here´s some zipped PDF file showing you what you can expect to get!

"Right mouse click" link, then "save target as..."

Ter90 PDF file link

Remember! Right mouse button click, then "save target" as! A single left mouse button click on link does NOT work!

Feedback and ideas highly welcome!:)

Holy cow! I knew you were working on several categories of terrain features, but over 200 new icons?! Even Redleg and Grenadier will have a tough time using all the new tools in this box! :D Great job Harry

Just wondering: what is the capacity of Ter90? I was going to make some more using unit icons and need to know what the limit is. Also, is there a limit on the size (in pixels) of icons that can be placed in Ter90?

Ah...good you remind me at that! :)

Well...I managed to inflate initial Ter90 file to include 300 shape graphics, but I stopped testing as I found out that Freds WaWMap Editor does not work with that huge shape files anymore. I tried again and figured out Freds Editor works with files that include 250 shapes at max, so I stuck to this value. Interestingly SPWAW appears to work with shape files that have more than 250 shapes, so it´s rather a limitation of Freds Map Editor! Too sad. :(

In the past I used some battle map style huge shape graphic, that I included with my old "Probing Stalin line" scenario. IIRC its size was about 400x300 pixels. This was a very special use for a single shape graphic and you actually need to check the scenario what it was about.

I had a look at the mentioned scenario file and found the included shape in Ter90z1 to be even even bigger, it´s about ~600x400! :D

here´s the mentioned scenario. It isn´t available in the net anymore (Fabio´s site & WarfareHQ).:(

thanks Mike,

working with tracer is very inspiring!:D
BTW: Did you find anything important missing in the new files?

Here´s some more work in progress. I tried on making some bombed-out looking urban rowhouses and backyards. Seems Bryan and Brent need to rework their city maps soon! :D

and some heavily beaten forest area. Good for WW1 maps and other more or less static frontlines (Huertgen forest, Reichs-wald)
