Ship components seem really fragile

I just got this game for Christmas, and have been enjoying it greatly, but have noticed a few things that don't seem right to me
1. ship components seem really easy to damage. I sent 4 armed RHIBs against a zumwalt class destroyer, and had them set to neutral from the DD's point of view to represent the weapons being hidden, and they managed to take out about 80% of the DD's systems using rpgs and 7.62mm machine guns, including stuff such as the helicopter pad. Despite how much component damage they did, they only dealt about 0.8% hull damage to the ship.
On a side note, the armed RHIBs seemed to be firing their RPGs as if they were mounted in a rocket pod, not like as if they had just a pair of RPG launchers and 30 RPG rockets.
In another case, I was testing mines and mine-sweeping, and a MCM ship (without ROVs or UUVs) had 30% of it's components knocked out (including the engine) while only having like 5% hull damage.
I'll post more accurate info when I get back to my gaming computer.
Edit:
I put a 11m armed RHIB 0.1 nm away from a zumwalt destroyer, and told the RHIB to attack.
According to the message log, a 20 rd 7.62 MG burst and 2 generic RPGs hit, while 5 more RPGs airbursted 57-141 ft off the Zumwalt. (Note, the RHIB apparently fired off a total of 30 RPGs in about 2 seconds, so I guess 25 RPGs missed) After the Zumwalt sunk the RHIB, I looked at the damage control. While the Zumwalt's damage read as 0%, most of its components were destroyed or damaged.
Of the Zumwalt's 46 systems, 21 were destroyed including the ship's engines, all three of its active radars, all of its sonars, its towed array, its 30mm ammo magazine and torpedo magazine.
The only useful undamaged systems were: the 2 155mm guns, 2 VLS systems, a ELINT system, and a gun director.
This seems to be absurd amounts of damage, even accounting for the fact that the RHIB was absurdly close to the ship
