This happens even with small scenarios.

Must be something computer-related, though. Since after pausing and waiting, things are OK.

I've had this a lot. It happens seemingly randomly but maybe more frequently when I am using shift-F1 to select targets. Things will slow down to a crawl and sometimes the game will seem "frozen." Often (but not always) if I use right-click to change map position, suddenly everything will start moving again. Everything about it is very unpredictable, though (so I can't attach a save, because there is no warning that it is about to happen). I can sometimes play an entire scenario and it won't happen even once, other times it is happening constantly. Doesn't seem related to size of scenario.
