question about new desertion and surrender rules

Hi all,
I have to say that I think the addition of desertion and surrender of units in zero supply is a very good modification to the game engine.
It gets rid of some odd, ahistorical situations and discourages certain gamey moves that were otherwise possible.

I did have one question: I think I read that only units in zero supply that are adjacent to two or more enemy units have the chance of suffering desertions or surrendering. Fair enough. but are ther limitations on the type of enemy units that will trigger this?
Will Garrisons trigger this, or does it have to be the type of unit that exerts "full zone of control" ?

Thanks for any clarification.

Hi Leadwieght

You're right, only front line units that exert full zone of control will also trigger desertions and surrenders. Here's the rule in full from the Manual:

7.28.2. Low Supply & Desertions
Units at 0 supply will have a 50% chance, and units at 1 supply a 20% chance, of 1 strength point loss per adjacent enemy unit, providing they are adjacent to at least 2 enemy front line units with strength and supply levels of at least 5. If their last strength point deserts then the unit surrenders.
Units at 0 supply also suffer a unit Morale penalty of 50%, those at 1 supply 25%.
