Do they freeze?
When Livonia was invaded the Finnish reinforcement regiments entered the Baltic region by crossing the frozen Gulf of Finland.
These ice roads where a normal thing for centuries, they are still in smaller scale use.
Not a big deal if hard to code, movements in winter are special cases anyways.
