Matrix Games Forums

Many will know his name from Wargamer and Armchair General. He was also one of the first to like A Wargamers Needful Things and his appreciation of what we do there means a lot. To get positive comments from a veteran wargame reviewer like Jim is the kind of thing that you need when your trying to get a new (yet another) review website off the ground. So thanks Jim and rest in peace the wargame community has lost one of the good guys.

agreed, RIP James Cobb

also known here as Moltke71

and also bismarck71 on steam

RIP

Real sorry to hear this. He was a giant in the community. May he rest in peace.

Sad news indeed. I have enjoyed many of his articles over the years.

A real shame to hear this sad news, I've read many of his reviews and articles over the years.

R.I.P. Jim.

James has been supporting the wargames community for many years, it was a passion for him. The enthusiasm he showed through his reviews and comment, in his articles and in the Wargamer forums, always in defense of an honest and civilized discussion, were a true mark of his character and personality.

We will miss his clever points of view, his sobriety and determination. The community, the companies working in the industry and his readers will certainly miss him. We at Matrix Games, sincerely regret his passing and sadly we will no longer be able to enjoy his company.

damn, one of the Old Guard is gone. [:(] He may get to game with Ian Trout now!

RIP Jim. Always enjoyed his reviews and comments. I give him great credit for trying to moderate the Wargamer.com forums several years ago, a thankless task at the time.

RIP Jim[:(]

Greetings to All,
I followed Jim's columns for decades and will miss them.

[:(]

This is really sad news. This is a huge loss for the wargaming hobby and our thoughts go out to his family. You'll be missed Jim.

Wow, I know that name Moltke71. He posted a lot here, didn't he? RIP.

Does anyone know Jim's age or what he passed of? I remember reading his articles for a long time!

There is a post on GH that says both he and his wife died from the flu.

Again from GH it is believed he was in his late 60s.
