Unique Soviet Unit? / "Shock Army"

There appears to be a unique Soviet unit whose icon is a combination of tank and infantry. I think it might be called a "shock army", but then again the game identifies certain regular armies (e.g., the one occupying Stalingrad) as "shock armies."

Anyone know what this is? It's mentioned in the manual but not defined. I was thinking it might be the same as mechanized, with a different icon, but the Soviets also have mech that looks much like the German mech (one armored fighting vehicle).

Just curious to know what it is and if it's defined anywhere.

Thanks.

If you turn on Nato symbols, it has the same symbol as a standard Russian Army with the word 'Shock' added.
I agree it is confusing where the names of normal Armies also have 'Shock' in them. I would suggest to the developers to remove those. I try to avoid picking those names when building armies.

I don't have the stat numbers memorized; but the Shock Army is about the equivalent of UK and US regular armies and is better than a Russian Army.
However, it (like the other Russian special Infantry units (e.g. SF, Mech, Para, Eng, etc...)) can only go to Infantry Weapons 2 and I think a normal Russian Army at INF Weapons 3 is about its equal with one
exception. The Shock Army has a De-moralization value where regular Russian Armies don't (same as UK, US & GE don't know about IT armies).
