Italy convoy routing problem

I've had lots of problems with CW convoy routing but didn't expect a problem with simple Italy. But I have one.
The situation is ND 39. Italy needs to run 2 resources over cp lines. 1 from Sardinia, 1 from Algeria. Italy has 1 cp W Med and 1 cp It Coast.
When I select computed then sometimes (not always) the route of the res through W Med shows up (see next post for screenshot). But when I select defaults or Override then Sardinia the route doesn't show up.

Here is one of the times that when I select computed the route shows up. But I think I cannot modify route here have to modify with override or defaults selected.

I created an override to recompute the Sardinia to Rome and Algeria to Milan and fixed those, but still needed fix a resulting idle Italy resource, but stopped there.
The resource recompute is kind of fragile and you may need to work at getting the remaining idle resource back to an idle factory.
It will just take you some time.
I also suggest that you should not need to bother with Algeria. Germany usually has 6 or 7 idle resources by the time it is ready for Barbarossa to lend. Those are more easily managed.

Having similar problems with the UK - I have enough convoys to get all resources into Britain, Canadian via Faeroes Gap -- but because of the order computed, the convoys in Bay of Biscay are all used up by Canada convoys, so the resources from the Africa & Far East can't get to the UK through Faeroes Gap...
Either need smarter AI or be able to specify convoy routing.

There is a process to specify a convoy route and set it as a default or an override.

The trickiest part is remembering the double-click in the final zone.

Yes I read about that process but this won't let me click in the route box on the top left where you can often specify sea zones.
To my mind this convoy problem is more important to get fixed than any of the additional features that are on the list to add to MWIF (AI, optional rules etc). This is really basic stuff that just doesn't work well or work at all in some cases.

I used this procedure last week during Netplay testing. I didn't find any bugs in it.
The only bug I know of which remains in production planning is the allocation of factories for build points send to other major powers...

Yes post #1 shows the spot where you want to specify a route as per the players manual, page 232. You need to be in Default or Override to do that.
