Well - back in action.

First I have not looked at Dave's thread.

two, i still have no preset opening as the russian commander.

Here the German armor outran the infantry. I close the northern supply line. Once again, it seems, I shall not run away.

Here is my lineup for the southern cut. Good troops be damned.

My saying is 'use em or lose em'

German southern tank army is officially cut off.

At least that is what is going to be in the report sent up the chain of command.

Final Southwest front.

I resupply the top pocket.

His use of interdiction did slow some units this turn from getting into desired position.

Final Minsk

Again, I was able to resupply my Central front. that should never occur especially from the south way. (imo)

Loving the playstyle here mate keep it up

I especially like shifting 1 of the regis at the bottom of the lvov pocket it could in theory be a key component in the southern front opearting a forward fighting retreat around the Odessa theatre

The German player, if looking at the snapshot above, only has to move the 5=5 armor regiment in the 2-1 Soviet Armor Division hex to counter the Southern attack opening the Southern route. At least that is how I set up in my games to keep this from happening.

Indeed that is what I do also

Still love BrianG's brave fighting spirit in pouncing on the oppourtunity given!

turn 2 South

A very nice dagger is thrust under my armpit and almost succeeds. Nicely done.
Obviously, I did not have enough units in the fort belt between the rivers.

Also interdiction did some movement damage.

My counter.

So ends my stand and fight defense.

Thus begins a multi turn retreat. and trouble for the armor that was in the Rovno area.

oh and 3 german division temporarily cut off.

Not sure why I gave up land bridge but clearly what ever I might have had there was going to get totally walloped in turn 3.

so much for a good line at Peskov.

I guess I am trying to save my units. In many of my earlier game I have had horrific losses early.

I always try to delay german advance in Pskov and in the landbridge/upper Dniepr area.

Well done in the South but forward defence can result in a high cost of losses. It depends on the number of Pzd that Dave will have sent from the center to the South.

This rr cut by german forces takes away my planned escape route for the quality armor south of the swamp.

Now the long retreat thru the swamp begins. On foot.

End south front.

I retreat where I can.

and end turn above the swamp.
Mild german pressure but since rr is cut, tanks have no exit

and more retreat Central front.

I don't defend the river line. Not going to hold in any case.
