Tip for Eastern Front ?

Well, bought the game a few weeks ago, and i enjoy it : it really a deep game.
Amongst many other things (trucks system for instance), Can't seem to hold on the Eastern Front. What are the good tip for handling the russians especially regarding resting units ?
Do you rest the weakest unit regarding morale, or do you rest the ones with the best morale in order to maximise your reinforcement efficiency ?
How long do you rest them ? Can you see how many replacements you get on the eastern front ?
Well, any tips from an eastern Veteran to save the fatherland would do

I always make a mess of the EF so you should take this advice with due caution [;)]
Resting - I find that at least 2 turns, pref 3 are needed if you want the unit to recover. On the first turn nothing really happens (I think of this as the unit disengaging and falling back). At the start I rest units that are looking weak compared to their peers, by 1944 I tend to only rest once the unit has been wrecked (I have no idea if this is the best solution).
Have a look at your equipment pools. Some of the more exotic stuff is not produced in large numbers and it maybe as well to scrap a unit in the EF as to let it sit waiting for reinforcements - this helpfully creates a small equipment reserve that can be allocated to other similar units.
You can see the flow of reinforcements and equipment in the turn log. There is a chart that shows what was allocated to the off map regions.
When the game first came out the EF box was fairly unbalanced. You could draw say the Mtn divisions to Italy with no real penalty as long as you sent some extra Pzr divisions east in early 1944. I'd say its now very well balanced which brings a huge problem. If you don't reinforce to match the historic German assignments the Soviets will get out of control inflicting heavier losses (men, equipment and VP) forcing you to divert all the more to try and control things. On this basis, I now tend to leave it off and just play with the historical arrivals/departures - I'd suggest this unless you have a good feel for what the Germans actually did.

Refit units with high morale first, and keep them in refit untill their name turns white on the EF screen. Of coure, it also depends on the strenght of the units; it might be better to refit a low morale division with 0 CV than a high morale division that can still contribute to the EF box value.
If you have the necessary AP's, send weak panzer divisions to the west, refit them on map and then send them back east once they're strong. That way they'll boost the morale of other units in the EF box.

thank you all for your tips. Will review my refit policy according to what you said.
Anyway i'm getting my ass kicked atm on the eastern front, even if i did well on the west front. It has probably something to do with the transfer of the mountain divisions in Italy.... Got to send some panzers east[;)]

I also noticed that eastern front unit CV seems to be sensitive to the weather, which is logical : i sent back a 4.7 CV infantry on a muddy week and it increased the overall combat value by 9.
