I just started playing the game yesterday, and I have followed the all manual guide from the forums, which mentions that when you start pre warp you will have at least 1 planet with ruins and that planet will be marked with 3 dots/squares, and I did have them and all went fine.
Today I started my first proper game on my own, and those dots are nowhere to be seen? I had to manually check every planet in my home system to find the ones with ruins. Did I maybe press some shortcut to turn them off?
I know it's not a big deal but it irks me, thanks

Occasionally two planets or moons are so close together that their names overlap and the three dots seem to get overwritten in that case.

If that is what is happening then try zooming in using the mouse wheel. The dots should appear when the planets are far enough apart on the screen.
