2.8.4 Operation Torch bug

V 2.8.4
I have a very repeatible issue, related to attacking Vichy (Operation Torch). When I go to resolve battles in Morocco, the symptom is
"An error occurred in the application" and
"There is no email program associated with the requested command..."
I believe it's on the Vichy defect roll (or the battle roll?); it stays live if I continue the application, but no way to proceed. I'm guessing it's the Vichy roll, but only in Morocco, since the Papeete invasion and Gambia attacks both roll for defect of the notional unit and resolve normally.
It's definitely tied to Morocco or a supply check, as no matter which order I do the battles in, everything works fine until I pick either Rabat or the other Morocco attacks. Both Papeete and Gambia are out of supply.

There is a second issue I just recalled, that shows in the same file: China is conquered, and there are partisans there, but nobody can control the partisans!
They do show as Chinese communist but Russia can't seem to move them.

I believe, after reviewing the rules, this bug is because China is conquered and is therefore taking a pass action thus Communist Chinese can't move....?

After reviewing the rules and the FAQ, I can't seem to find anything in there which allows the USSR to move Chinese partisans when China has been conquered. They are still Chicomm units and if China is conquered, it can only take pass actions and therefore those partisans can't be moved.
It's a strange rule, but that's how it seems to be.
The bug regarding the invasion in Morocco seems to be a fatal one.

No the Partisan thing is a bug too. Last paragraph of 13.1: "Partisans are not removed from the map either when their country or their controlling major power has been conquered. Even if their controlling major power has been completely conquered, partisans can still move and fight every turn as if their controlling major power had chosen a land action."
Prior to that it says they are controlled by their original major power.

No fixes to get around the Morocco invasion? The game is kind of messed up from a strategy standpoint but I would like to finish it if there's a fix for it...
The Chinese partisans don't make much gameplay difference but the Morocco bug sucks.

The only thing I can suggest is to try earlier versions. Back up the EXE and replace it with an earlier version and edit the save game file to be that version or earlier. Once done, then restore to the latest.
I can give this a whirl if you don't have earlier versions on file.

I tried it with 2.8.1 but no dice - didn't work.
I then scraped 2.7.5 from the site and reran the attacks. Morocco isn't a black hole with 2.7.5; it works! I'll get past this there.
The China partisans are still petrified though in all these versions - Russia can't move them.
Thanks P!

I fixed the bug with Chinese partisans after China is conquered. That was a while ago (2 months?).
===
I'll look into the other problem reported herein.
EDIT: Actually I fixed a problem with Vichy units defecting recently too. I'll run your saved game to see if it still happens.

I ran through your game without trying to set any die rolls. All went well with all 4 attacks. Version 02.08.07.04.
Unless you report this again, I will assume that my earlier changes fixed this.
