War of a different type.

I would like to take a break form the french bashing and the war in Iraq to point out another type of war that has been fought over the last few weeks, a war fought of the cricket fields ! Yes the world series of one day cricket is being battled out in South Af-ric-ka. Australia (but of course:rolleyes: ) is in the final tomorrow playing against India for the title, and seeing as Australia is yet to lose a single match, they are a shoe-in to win. Even countries such as Canada were there (but we shall overlook their record-smashing game inwhich they were all out for 56 runs). But it is the Aussies whom are the worlds best, and there ain't no other team in the world that can humble them!

Aussie aussie aussie, Oi oi oi!

This game contributes to male pattern hair loss.

It happens when you spend more than 5 minutes watching it, and ending scratching your head wondering what the heck the point to the game is.

I have never once been able to figure out cricket. Always seems to be a sport played by guys in odd looking outfits who likely just don't enjoy being smashed into boards or crushed under really large guys.
Looks like a wierd form of baseball, with a most unusual looking bat. And I can never figure out who is on which team. Are you supposed to hit the ball, or is the point for the guy with the ball to hit the sticks?

I must admit, I often wonder why so many of my own countrymen find this such a fascinating pastime. But to each his own I say.

For me, cricket brings up horrfying recollections of my childhood, when we would for all intents and purposes be ordered to line up for batting practice, in order for our teacher at that time to hurl what can only be described of as "rock hard missiles" at lightning ferocity at us in order to improve his bowling technique. Being that he was still a county player, he was obviously very adept at what he was doing, and took no mercy even against mere 10 year old boys.

This experience has scarred me for life, plus the fact we have a crap team :)

Cricket is something like UV, on the surface it looks like a simple game, but once you drill down it is a very complicated and detailed game with hundreds of little nuancies (S?). Baseball in comparison is the "fast food" of ball games.;)

Hehehehe very true Les. I was in England a few years ago and took the chance to visit Winston Churchills family estate (quite big estate and a very nice place to visit). Anyway there is a cricket ground right next to the building and I stood there with my father for 30min trying to figure out what the heck was going on:)

Now THAT is what I call "shock and awe". In the end Australia was 2/359. And India was all out for 200 and something (who cares). Once again, Australia proves that they are the world champions! The world cup is again ours (for the third time running).

I believe that if this is common throughout the 'OLD COUNTRY' then the answer to Englands abysmal showing against fast bowling has been found!:) Did this teacher move to India to further his educational career? If he did then God bless him!:D

Oh yeah, go Aussie.
How fast does Brett Lee bowl, up around 145 kph?
Any one who can face that sort of bowling has more sack than most .. I have to say I feel (no bias of course) Australian sportsman are the toughest in the world. Rugby Union, Rugby League, they are a mans game }: [

Hi to my fellow Aussies
