How to attack airbases with air units?

I can't figure out how to get my air units to conduct attacks on enemy airbases (and the aircraft based there). I've looked in the manual a couple of times but couldn't find anything, and can't figure it out from fiddling with one of the scenarios. Anyone have any tips?

The same way you attack any unit. You need to spot airbase, then select your air unit in range and attack through right click. Or just double click on enemy unit to attack via combat planner.

hmm, this is what I tried, but only one of my aircraft units showed up in the combat planner. What mission should the air units have--combat support or air superiority?

Mission is overwritten by attack mission, so there should be other reason why they don't show up.
Actually there seems to be a bug that air unit is not displayed in combat planner [s]if it doesn't have full movement points[/s] for some reason, althrough it can attack as usual through right click.

Depends on tactical situation, for example air parity, you may want to use your air units judiciously to maintain parity and try to gain air superiority. If you have air superiority, then bombardments and close combat support is useful. As for air units not showing up in the combat planner, if you have a lot of support units, i.e artillery units there is only so much shown on the combat planner panel. But as you assign these units, the combat planner will detect unassigned support units.

It isn't about not enough space in interface, sometimes it won't show you air units in planner even if there are 0 other support units. But they appear when you manually set attack mission. I don't know why, even unmoved units are sometimes not shown.

Use AS for fighters to do air superiority missions and CS for
bombers to do child support, um...combat support missions and
INT for aggravating your opponent.

normally when acting with airplanes, doing right click on an airbase will offer: airfield attack
you must choose your intensity before

I don't get any choices when I right click--just the attack crosshairs. Same with attacks with land units.

76mm,
This is what I get if I select an air unit.
