I invaded Denmark and have 1000 aircraft patrolling around the eastern coast but the Axis have very heavy interdiction on every hex in the Skagarrak and kategat. (Level 9) as well as the Ferry between Funen and Zealand. So far i havent got close to reducing any[&:] of this interdiction even though i placed and Amphibious HQ on the ferry. How is this possible? The relatively shallow water was very dangerous for U boats and the area is some distance away from Axis airstrips now that I control 90% of Denmark. Is this a game mechanism to deny player access to the Baltic and the North Coast of German near to Berlin or am I missing something. [&:]

It's as you said, a game mechanism to effectively prevent the Allies from moving through this area.

I thought that games were a vehicle for exploring options. A bit disappointed that this option is artificially made impossible rather than a reaction from the AI to a possible course of action. [:(]

It is there to reflect the Naval defenses in the area that the game otherwise doesn't model properly. You can still invade the western side of Denmark though but I would not recommend it, the logistics are terrible.

So "Black out" the hexes to make movement impossible rather than using an artificial level of interdiction that only makes it a costly venture.
