Any guides on how to replace the Research Tree

I have spent several days looking at replacing the research trees in my mods.
This is a complete 100% replacement of everything in research.
When I make changes to research names I get an error straight away in Distant Worlds.
I think this is because the name is used elsewhere such as in the GameText.
Has anyone got tips on how to start research from scratch with no research and no components either as all components are also being replaced.
