Paris insta Vichy

One thing I noticed is that if your drive to Paris is fast (aka Paris captured in May or June), French morale doesn't have time to collapse enough to be asked the Vichy decision. The capital will be moved to Bordeaux and the French will fight one extra turn. This sucks because you often have to take a little extra damage to get a faster capture of Paris and you won't be rewarded for it if they fight on an extra turn anyway. Worst you are sort of punished since you are now stuck with Bordeaux as capital which is harder to defend than Paris.
Maybe the Vichy DE should be automatic if Paris is captured.

Actually, I think the designers got this one right: when Paris fell in June of 1940, the French government did, indeed, flee to Bordeaux, although its existence was to end in about a week's time with the formal surrender. Thus, while it may be inconvenient and a nuisance for some players to see France relocate is government in the game, the fact remains that such an event did occur and is accordingly an appropriate possibility in Strategic Command.

The most a-historic event of late '39 in the game is how easily it allows the Axis attack of Holland & Belgium. The French situation mentioned above is well handled by SC3.

Yeah, I,m not set on the date because historically between the start of the offensive and the surrender there was only like 2-3 SC turn. In the game, usually the offensive start in March, sometimes before if weather allows, so 5+ SC turns.
If the armistice is eminent, the relocation isn't significant to justify an actual in-game move to make it a wartime goal. I believe it should be reserved when Vichy is rejected.

The real issue is that Bordeaux remains the capital of occupied France for the rest of the game, which is ridiculous.

Agreed, it needs to move back to Paris after Vichy is installed or upon full vonquest.

France should not remain at all, it should go the way of Poland [out of the game].

I was responding to the issue The Ancient One brought up where the Capital of conquered France stays in Bordeaux. It should be moved back to Paris

It's a negative quirk that wouldn't happen if France went out of the game. France conquered should become Free France with the appropriate options for Vichy France to be created. However, in two years being exposed to the public no one has mentioned this, so maybe I am wrong.
The first thing that jumped to my mind two years ago was the reappearance of France's historical OOB when France is liberated. This is not historically correct.

Agreed.
But neither is reconstituted France being stuck with early 1940 Tech either.
Troops being told they "Are no longer 'Free French' under Commonwealth command, but rather French troops," in celebration decide to throw away their modern equipment.
