hi, noobie question,
i have just discovered the joy of Witp ae, but the tracker is mystifying me, i have downloaded all the relevant parts and run the batch file, but apart from it initializing, it does nothing, just the "press any key" remark. where should the database be? sorry if i'm being thick.

I don't use Tracker but if the program is running at all I know that you need to tell it where to find the data you want it to track.
Your WITP-AE game needs to have the -archive switch to make it save the relevant reports from each turn, and then Tracker has to be configured to look in the right subdirectory and at a specific report date and it will review all reports from that date forward.

If Tracker does not start up at all, try asking witpqs by PM if he can help. I know he uses Tracker a lot and understands a lot of the inner workings (because he has created his own program called Intel Monkey).

Nope. No -archive needed, the files are created and added to the save file folder. The -archive is nice as it dumps them all in one handy folder, but can make sending files to your pbem opposite a pain if you play as Japan and send three files (save, replay, and combat report with date in file name).

Tracker does run fine with the -archive function too, but you don't absolutely need it.

You need to edit I recall the tracker properties...right click on it and select edit. A text editor should open it up and you about 15 things to check from number of days per turn, to which side you are playing, to where the saves are, title, etc., etc.

A little mixup here: the -archive only puts report files into the archive folder (required for Intel Monkey but not for Tracker.

I think you are referring to something like the -d switch which makes a daily backup of the turn files.
