This crash is repeatable. I get it when I transition from the HQ Reorg to Naval Reorg phase. I also emailed the crash report with screen cap and game turn attached.

game turn.

By the way, I'm seeing if I can by this crash by running the game turn through 2.7.0. I'll let you know what I find.

It didn't take long. I get a crash using 2.7.0 too.

Also, if someone with debug tools/skills could get me past this phase I'd much appreciate it. I'm literally at the end of a long game and would like to get through the conquest phase of the upcoming end of turn. It's turn 41, May/June 1946 and both Berlin and Helsinki, the last two axis controlled capitals, have fallen to the allies. I would really like to review the map, and such, and ponder this long journey, which I started back on April 1st, and hope to end this game gracefully (i.e., without a crash). [8D]

FYI. In reading through the crash report I noticed it crashed when attempting to (auto) save the game file. I disabled that feature and was able to get to the naval reorg without the crash. I will next attempt to manually save the game file and see what happens.

No crash when I saved the file during the naval reorg phase. Let me get through that phase and save. I will then re-enable the autosave feature and see what happens. Will let you know ...

FYI. OK, I re-enabled autosave and didn't get a crash one I had gotten through the naval reorg phase.

Computers are strange.

Glad you got past the crash. A crash in autosave is new one, as far as I aware.

Looks to me like the Germans need a little more Foch-like lead in their pencils:

“Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking.“

I do not know why you are still trying to play this out as the Germans. They hold 1 city in Germany and are outnumbered about 200:1. Japan and Italy are completely gone. Finland is going to be conquered as soon as the turn ends.

===

The program runs okay on my computer but it takes 160 seconds to calculate supply under these bizarre conditions. Making an educated guess, I expect your computer runs somewhat slower and is timing out because it takes more than 3 minutes (180 seconds). You could simply respond to the Mad Except error by clicking on Continue Application. I am pretty sure that would let you continue your game.

Steve, Thanks for taking a look at this! In post 4 above, I did find a workaround by disabling the auto save and then re enabling it after I got past the troublesome phase.

Wrt/ why I continued playing this game ... I was having a blast. I understand that if I'd been playing another (human) opponent then we'd had quit a while back, but when playing solo, or (eventually) against an AI, I find it fun to play out these games to the very bitter end. [8D]

The best reason to play any game.
