An almost forgotten conflict is on the brink of erupting dramatically. The dispute over the Kuril Islands, claimed by the Japanese but held by Moscow since the end of WWII, is turning hot again thanks to an increased presence of nationalists and populists on both governments.

The JGSDF has traditionally been concentrated in Hokkaido already, but airborne and amphibious units have moved there, ostensibly for exercises.


The Russians, familiar with that excuse to concentrate forces, have become more suspicious than ever. Not helping the situation is raucous demonstrators on both sides sailing towards either the Kuriles or Hokkaido in small boats. Several have been killed and dozens more detained.

The situation is getting critical hour after hour.

And please let the next one be an African/Med oriented one with the Italian/Spanish/French navy facing off against somebody.. could be cold war setting against Soviets (would have to add the 6th fleet) or modern day against a Russia/Syria combo..

The LIVE DLCs are meant to pluck scenarios out of current headlines. Perhaps there will be a different DLC but the community pack has a few of these. My Mediterranean fury only has one so far but there will be more.

Good point! It is really great to see that both the developers and the community is putting so much effort into the game. I will definitely try your scenario. Unfortunately I am a very mediocre player, so I probably be sitting staring at all the different units, like a rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming car.

(on that note, then I really appreciated your guide to which scenarios to play from your Northern Fury series)

North Med (Italian/French/Spanish/Greek) vs South/East Med (Libya/Turkey/Syria/Russian)? If things had turned out a bit differently, add the Egyptians to the South/East block?

Yeah could be. I just love playing around with the smaller navies and their take on force design. The cold war produced some really weird and wonderful designs.

Excellent! Got to love these Command LIVE scenarios, in particular when the emphasis is on naval aspects. Commonwealth Collision was a great one, having scale just about right for my liking.
