how to make sure other stuff is working right?
goto game folder and re install all of the files the game needs, no matter how many times you have it installed, it doesn't hurt to check
_CommonRedist is the folder name, it has 3 folders inside, each will be needed for the game to run correctly, without them, game gives errors, so first port of call is to reinstall these, as it only repairs and does a over write, so you won't have more than one copy etc
the more games you install, the more you will have, and all are needed, as each game users a different version, so latest doesn't include all of the others either.
other things to check, Anti Virus logs, just in case it's updated and if a none game friendly one, has stopped a file or is holding it.
last but not least, windows updated? yes sometimes windows updates and stops of alters something a game needs, where as a fresh install of all the pre requites and the game fixes it.
