2.9.1.4 Italians desert along with Free French

Seems the Italians are getting VERY skittish.... When the Vichy notional unit defection roll is resolved (for the paradrop), the Italian unit seems to defect along with it. EVERY TIME! Tried setting die rolls, and for both a 1 and a 10 the Italian unit disappears and there's no combat roll.

Any ideas? This battle is kind of important overall with the time of year.

*Edit: I checked it out again with 2.7.5 and the same problem exists for both 1 and 10.

The notional has to be Italian because the notional is always the same nationality as a real unit in the hex (and also Italy and Vichy do not cooperate).

The game is set for 2D10 CRT so I don't know why the 'set die rolls' panel is offering numbers from one to ten.

There must be some kind of bug here to do with a paradrop on a Vichy hex occupied by a non-Vichy axis unit. A workaround would be to decline the notional, roll the battle, and if it's important to take the die roll that comes out, then manually calculate the correct odds and see if that roll makes a difference if there were a +2 notional there. If so, re-do and use 'set die roll' to give the result that should have happened if the notional were present.

Checking the rules, I think the game is rolling the defection roll (definite bug) and the reason it does not matter is "Subtract 1 from the roll for each Free French or US land unit involved in the combat."

Thanks Paul! It worked... Had to redo a couple other battles but it didn't even occur to me to turn off the notional.... :/
