Hi - I was just switched to a mac by the powers that be. Am i still going to be able to run SPWAW? I downloaded the 7.1 file but am still unable to open it? Should I change the filename (to lose the extension) or am I now unable to enjoy my favorite wargame?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

J

IIRC "Stuffit" the Mac equivalent to "WinZip" doesn´t support the zip format.

In order to be able to run Windows applications on the Mac you need an emulator like for example "Virtual PC". It´s basically a Windows Operating system for the Mac.

I´m not 100% sure if SPWAW runs on Virtual PC. But I assume it would.

Well, maybe I should try it on my girls Imac ....

good news - spwaw works on a mac

you need to run it with Virtual PC and its still a little clunky - and for whatever reason I can get the screen to scroll in every direction except "south" but hey I'm just happy it runs.

if anyone else has any ideas how to make the game run smoother using VPC I'm all ears

thanks

From my faded experience with VPC I think a RAM upgrade for the MAC and the ammount of RAM you assign to VPC makes a huge difference.

I prefer to switch between both sides ;)

They are both PC's in your terms, just one boots up with a smiley face and the other has a ugly flag. I have them both on my desk so I get to experience the joy of cursing at both OS's when they lock up. OS X is pretty cool and Steve Jobs is coming out with more "toys" to make the Macs more appealling so Billionaire Bill better watch out.

Yep, Macs ARE an alternative ;). Especially when doing art and multimedia stuff :D

The next bigger investment will most definetly be a Mac.
