Is there any way I can turn the speech down, or remove it ?
You can't turn the voice FX down individually, they are part of the general FX. You could look at DATA/SFX0.TXT (etc) and remove or change the entries for the voice. It is all fairly well commented. The filename numeric values map to the different sides.
