Here We Go Again - A Norwegian Frigate Rammed

Sadly, another navy has suffered a collision that will likely sink the frigate. No word on casualties during the collision but all crew have been taken off the ship.
The short video shows tugboats pushing the ship against the shore to try to stop it capsizing, but the picture below shows a much increased list that may mean the ship is a write-off.

Ideal ship movement is horizontal, not rotational along an axis.

Damn shame. [:(] That wipes out, what, 10% of their 'blue water' capabilities? Hope it can be salvaged.

ETA: Looks like an Aegis-like foremast. Are they running that on their frigates?

I fear that it might even be a bigger percentage of their 'blue water' capabilities. However, it is tough for me to rate the 'blue water' capability of their smaller vessels. Now there are only 4 frigates left in active service. [:(]

Although the Norwegian Navy is still a formidable 'blue water' force compared to the Swedish, so called, Navy.

Interestingly enough, yes they are.

Looks like the Captain and a few of the crew are going to have their pay docked for a while. [:-]

Why not? We have two Bullwinkles now. Let them them fight for dominance and mating privileges!

Hi, I think they are going to fix my account so I get Mogami back. However I was Bullwinkle on forums in 2005 because that is how people refer to me in person. No one calls me Mogami. My own kids call me Bullwinkle. I am a peaceful moose no need for violence.

" No Need for Violence" would make a nice AAR title.

Yep. Spain has a cottage industry doing that. They made some for their Navy, then some for Norway (I think made in Spain) and it is one of the candidates for the next generation US FFX program.

"We've got control?" Reminds me of the old spiel (don't know if it is true or not) about a US aircraft carrier on a CBDR (Constant Bearing, Decreasing Range) vector with something on the radar. The carrier keeps on telling the radar contact to change course and the final bit is, "We're a lighthouse."

Rammed by a Maltese tanker? The birth of ATK (attack tanker) class?
