Not sure if it is something I am doing wrong, but when I click the SOP button to change the settings..There is no indication what-so-ever of what the current settings are.

When I click a setting it turns yellow, but when I re-click on the SOP button, all the buttons are black again.

Is this a bug or something I am doing wrong. Or an oversight by the developer??

If you have more than one unit selected then the current settings are not shown, because at that moment the units can have different states active or in transition, or no similar settings available at all.
