Allright, here is a little suggestion.
--The great 2003 Tank Challenge--
Inspired from the tank fight treads!
A challenge for you M4 and Katz lovers
(stop hiding and kissing in the trees and face your ultimate nightmare):
1- All M4 drivers compete one on one against each other until there is only one winner, this way we will know who is the best M4 driver.
2- Same as above but for Katz lovers.
3- Each of the winner of 1 and 2 above will fight it out to determine the ultimate killing machine.
Just a suggestion, someone more knowlegable than me can set up the challenge.
Sorry guys but I wont be participating cause, frankly, I still havent learned how to PBEM, and, I'd be dead in turn 3 of the first fight.

Common guys,
Afraid of facing your own tanks?:D
This is the ultimate challenge, right?

doing harm to another Kat....but if I guess it could be considered only a training exercise.
The real killing would be against that bucket of bolts...the M4!

Such a tourney would have to be a round-robin setup, to eliminate (as much as possible) flukes, luck (good & bad), and simple mistakes.
I suggest that at the start it be best 2 out of 3, each player on each "side" playing against each other player on the same side.
Then come semi-finals, also 2 out of 3, but against only one opponent from the semi-finalists.
Then the finals, the best 2 on each side play 5 out of 7 against each other (same side) to determine the best on each side.
Then a best 2 out of 3 between the best of both sides.
Obviously, depending on how many sign up, we're talking about a
lot of games (13 games minimum, if only three per side sign up)!
This could take months to do it right... and to do it any other way leaves the door open for someone to later claim, "Well, it was just a lucky shot! He's not
really the best." (We've all heard of Kats being taken out with lucky rear hits from an M2HB, or tanks getting stuck, or mis-clicks that put you in a vulnerable position, etc.)
As for me, I'll sit this one out on the sidelines. Especially since I've never actually declared a preference for either side. M4's are still "Spam Cans" (IMHO), but they're good Spam Cans, and Kats (most of them) were excellent tanks. To choose one over the other... nah, I like 'em all too much to play favorites.

Actually, a much cooler fight would be
M4A3 (76)w
vs.
Pz IVh
Now that would be a good fight.

Ok I'm Down with this.....

Ok, I have at least one.
It would be in 7.1!
Since this is an idea by me, an inexperienced player, I kind of would let someone with experience in setting up contest do the hard work.
But I agree with Bernie for a round-robin setup.
For the map size I dont know wich size would work best, I think someone with experience here could design a well balanced map for this kind of fight.
And I would take Belisarius' Idea for the tanks, what do you think guys?
Anyway, I got your name Hawk.
And I think I have Klinkenhoffen too?
Anyone else?
Suggestions?
Hmmmmmm

I think we should use the map size that M4 Jess uses........it's not to big and yet is enough room to hide......
I think Jess is MIA for a day or two....so we should wait to hear from him. I gather that Jess is the Ruleing King of M4's.........all we need is a King of Katz's to step up and make the challengers list.......All M4 lovers should speak up.....as well as Kat lovers so we can get a Roster.

Feel free to use the map from my "Capture The Flag" scenario (in the scenario forum) if you'd like.
It's modest sized and has a little bit of almost every type terrain I could fit in it.
Me too!

I'm in!
Put me donw for a Kat!
Rather than having pre picked armor, how about letting the players decide what they want and purchase units as a normal fight, this way you get a bit of a surprise for the other guy...
And why not make it a platoon or 2 sections (not necessarily the same type of tank) to truly test ones abilities with a formation of armor rather than who is lucky enough to find the other guy first and get a shot off.
I am full of good ideas in the mornings.....
Just some thoughts!

I think i'd go for the "2 sections"
With Belisarius' suggestions for the tanks!
For now, seems like we only have kats!
M4s anyone?
