Win 10 and patch to 1126A game plays itself

So my system crashed and I got a new SSD to replace the old HD. Had to get Win 10 installed.
Used my game CD to install base game and then downloaded patch 1126A from the Matrix site. Ran the patch, all good.
Created the shortcut from the game .exe and put in the switches I had when I was running Win 7.
Game started fine, switches changed the resolution as they should. I selected "Head to Head" setting on the main screen and then Scenario 1.

Game started and began to play as if it was set to "Both Sides Computer". Couldn't stop the game with Esc key but could pause with Ctrl-P.
Could not access the top right corner to exit the game because I was in full screen mode so used Alt-Tab to get out and Task Manager to shut down the game.
Added a -w to the switch line and tried again. Again selected H2H and Scenario 1. Again the game started playing itself (and I thought I was addicted to the game!). This time the windowed mode allowed me to exit with the X in the corner.

Q1. Has anyone else had this happen? If so was there a fix?
Q2. Could this have anything to do with going to 1126A without first installing 1124 (last official patch) first?
Q3. Is there anything in Windows 10 I need to look at

Here is the line in my Shortcut:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -deepColor -dd_sw -px1920 -py1080 -w -fixedArt -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders -cpu2

Well now I am really confused about what happened.
I tried the game again, this time doing my Game Preferences/Realism etc settings on the main screen and selecting Japanese Computer on the main screen. Then selected Scenario 1 and the game started fine and did NOT autoplay itself.
So then I went back to the Main selection screen and set the dial to H2H and started Scenario 1. Et voilĂ , the game started fine without playing itself.

If at first you don't succeed, poke and fiddle at settings and dials that seem to have nothing to do with the problem and a fix magically occurs. I should be an auto mechanic, or a brain surgeon or maybe a plastic surgeon specializing in "upgrades"!

You need the latest 'official patch' before the 1126 beta.

Don't know, but you need the official first.

The 1126a is a comprehensive patch, it has everything needed to update the release version to 1126a. After you install the 1126a patch, then you can patch to 1126b.

Yes, I found that out as described in my second post when the game settled down and played normally. I still have no idea why it decided to play a Computer vs Computer game the first three times I started it. Starting a scenario with "Japanese-Computer" seemed to break whatever glitch it was having.

I haven't decided to go to 1126B yet - need to see if I like the changes between 1124 and 1126A first. It looks to me like the IJ units got better AA - 40mm guns in a lot of units at game start.

These are quickly swapped out for 25mm.

1126b solves a big problem for the Allied forces. It allows for correct unrep of large caliber guns by AE's, which wasn't working properly and had gone undetected. This is something that I think would be important in the 'end game'.

Are you saying the IJN trades in a 40mm gun for the ineffective 25mm ones? Did M&M Enterprises sell them a crock of doo-doo or what?

Yes, in ground units. IRL, Japan's 40mm weren't up to snuff for whatever reason. Add to that that the game doesn't give Japan 40mm replacements and you're better off with the 25mm. She does have a number of CMc's that have 40mm and these may convert to E-boats that retain the 40mm. I know of no other Japanese vessels that have 40mm, either at start or through upgrades.

Oddly enough Japan produces a 37mm (in the game) from the start at the rate of 9/month (IIRC), but I've found no use for these in the game. Maybe somewhere near the end they will be distributed to some unit or another?
