FUP - Community reorg

Hi all,
Sorry to hijack the thread. The title is too good.
The standard action for forces at FUP, before attack is a reorganisation. So may I propose that all active members of our small community sit down and think of all the good things we had on the way. We will have to restart some, advertise again others on the new forums, start new ones.
The Drop Zone has been already updated to show the change of publishers.
What about the re-spawn of the infamous ICQ thread ?
Yackstock, what about the tournament ?
We lost (hopefully not permanently) the magnificent list of usefull posts from markshot. What can be done ?
Anything else ??
Go ahead guys ! We need more inputs.
JeF.

One of the advantages of this forum system is that you can enter ICQ numbers into your user profile.
Private Messaging is also quite a nifty thing, as are buddy lists.
Cheers

I guess it is not practical or probably not legal to salvage some of the useful threads from battlefront, (they have them archived). I found those threads really helpful when just starting out with the game. I would think there will be (hopefully) many new players to the game, and I am sure most questions will be answered as they were before. One thing that is infinitely useful and a good advertisment as far as I can see, are those AAR. One co-worker and one brother after reading the singling AAR bought the game after being quite impressed. I may try and produce an historical campaign AAR in the near future, as reading Yakstocks reports and trying one myself already, I find I have a much better understanding of the game and perform better (atleast against the computer when I am forced to keep track of my progress in writing). I would still be interested in a tourney, I have not yet played an online opponent yet, however I am newly moved into a new apartment so I should be good to go soon. My one question to someone is how to go about capturing a screenshot, I will when I start the AAR ask for some guidance and suggestions from some of the more experienced AARer's as to format and such, and I will try and post it to the message board or wherever is practical. Well, I am glad there is still a new game in progress with the system and even though I was not a large poster on the boards, I read and visit alot so I am glad we still have a presence for AA. The Drop Zone is a nice site that hopefully will continue to expand in information content as the new game(s) come out.

Tbone,
To capture a screen shot from the game, just hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. This copies the current screen to the clipboard. Then Alt-Tab to your favourite paint program and select Paste. Save the file in jpeg format. Also save a low res version in jpeg format as well. FTP both to your website. You should have some space on your ISP's site. If not, ask the Drop Zone to host it for you.
Include a link to the low-res picture in the body of the AAR text, where appropriate. Add a hyper link "click here to enlarge" or words to that effect which the points to the full-scale colour version. That way users don't wait forever for the thread to open and can examine the full pictures at their leisure.
Example. This is an example.

Looking forward to seeing your AAR.[IMG]

An easier way to do screenshots is to download a utility called "UOSU" or "Ultima Online Screenshot Utility". You specify the filename, and it creates JPEG files on the fly so you can keep running AA and take as many shots as you wish.
You should be able to find it on Google using those terms, or send me a PM with your email & I can send it to you that way.
Cheers

I can't see any problem with using cut & paste to repost data from the BFC forum; or just link to it from threads here. All the stuff is still there & still readable, you just can't post to it.

Dave is very right here.
In the latest AAR from Yakstock I posted at the Drop Zone, instead of using a low res version of the picture, I used a cut-off version. yakstock used low-res B&W images when he posted in the forums, but I did not find them informative enough.
Still, the goal stays the same : provide a very light version of the picture in the text body. But, with a cut-off version, you can still see all details of (a part of) the full picture.
Compare the "Breakout to Deelen" and "Beach Assault" AARs at
The Drop Zone to see what I mean.
Of course, any method is valid.

Indeed. Previous links to particular threads still work. But not for long. I received confirmation from Moon himself that the Airborne Assault forum at BFC will not last forever.
