Anyone know of way to pause execution of the AI phase of the game?

to my knowledge there is no way to pause the ai turn although i wish there were and also a way to save after pausing it.

There is no official pause function but one way to achieve this is to use Ctrl + Q which will pop up a question box asking if you wish to Quit the game. This effectively pauses the game at that point and the AI playback. When you are ready to let the AI start again, simply select 'No' and the game will resume.
