Newbie question. What is the process/procedure for downloading these scenarios? Is there a special folder they go in? I presume that they are selected in the game under Select User Scenario. Thanks in advance!

Welcome dburchfield2000!

Most published scenarios are uploaded to https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/c ... scenarios/ . Select your BattleSet of interest on the right-hand side then find a scenario to download. Download the zip file anywhere and unzip the contents anywhere, as long as you keep track of where you unzip. I pile them all up in the game's main directory which is C:\Matrix Games\HUCE\ by default. You are correct about then opening the scenario in the game, fire up the GE/Winharp32.exe (or HC Launcher), select the BattleSet then click the "User Scenario" button and navigate to the scenario file.

When you are at the scenario listing, such as https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/f ... -and-fury/ you can see which database is required. Pairing up the database is still a manual effort, much to my chagrin. In that example, the database is HCDB2 which you would also download from HarpGamer, https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/f ... 1980-2025/ . Once again, I unzip right into the game's main directory.

Some folks assemble well organized tree structures
C:\Matrix Games\HUCE\UserContent\HCDB2 then store the database and all scenarios for it in that folder or even in a subfolder for each scenario and/or version of database. These arrangements benefit from the use of the HC Launcher, https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/f ... -launcher/
C:\Matrix Games\HUCE\UserContent\HCDB
C:\Matrix Games\HUCE\UserContent\HCCW

Hey tony I tried but it gives a Registration Problem saying it has a
problem verifying my serial number when I try using the launcher. When I try to select it from the
GE itself, it looks like it is going to load then pops up with a
GetMemAnnexA error and shuts down. Where does the game look for the
.res file when playing a user scenario? Do I need to rename the original res file and copy the new one to the game root directory? The game works fine when
launched from the (Matrix Games Whats Your Strategy) launcher and running the built in scenarios.

I only selected the scenario directory and the db directory in the launcher. Did I need to specify anything else?

Hey Tony. I should have listened. I dumped all the files in the HUCE root directory and it worked. Thanks for your help!

Hi Dramlore, let us know which scenario you have downloaded. The listing on HarpGamer will tell you which DB series to be using. https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/f ... -scenario/ for instance expects HCDB2 which is not distributed with the game and is a separate download from https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/f ... 1980-2025/

In short, different scenarios were written and expect different databases, part of the flexibility of the game and can be annoying that it doesn't do all of the work for you (automagically downloading a scenario, required database, etc.).
