Hi
I recently acquired the new SC but thought I would check out my old mods on the previous games first using the new download from Matrix with my old licence as my previous working versions were lost during hardware problems 4 or 5 years ago. The download has worked OK and the games are installed. I found my old mod files on a still working hard drive but when I copy some of them into the campaign folder the Matrix version is not seeing them.
I guess in the 5 years since I played this great game I have probably forgotten a lot about modding but before I set about re-learning it I wanted to check if there is any reason why old modded campaigns for example on AOD may not work with this re-issue.
Regards
Mike (was called mcaryf1 on the old Battlefront forum)

Hi Mike
I remember you from back then, good to see you here! [:)]
User files cannot go into the game's main installation folder, this is due to how Windows works nowadays, so instead you'll need to put them here:
C:\Users\Bill\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command Classic WWII
The items in bold will need to match your user name and the game's actual name.

Hi Bill
Thank you for the heads up - I will try it out.
If I want to re-post some of my old Mods and maybe some new variants to work with the new SC where is the best place to do that - first for the old version and second for the new?
Will any work from old mods carry forward to new SC or will it be a case of starting over for every aspect apart from concept? Is there a document that discusses that?
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike
As the newer games use hexes rather than tiles, and the number of units and research categories were expanded dramatically, it means that so much has changed that one can't really port the campaign from one of the older games into a newer one.
In terms of how to make the mods available, modders will tend to provide a link to a storage site, e.g. dropbox, from where anyone wanting to play it can download it.

Hi Bill
Thank you for your replies. My "Axis Triumphant" mod to AOD is now working again which is great but I need to remind myself what all the features were and then think about which might be relevant in the new game.

Mike

Great, and good to hear it'll keep your brain exercised a bit. [:)]

Hi Bill
I have been trying to get the AI to play itself to carry on testing my old mod before posting it. I have tried Fn F4 but either I am doing it at the wrong time or it is not working.
Please advise how I should do it.
Regards
Mike

At one time for the older games it was F4, then we switched to F3. Try F3 and if that still doesn't work then check to make sure the F lock is enabled on your keyboard.

Hi Hubert
Hallo again after all these years!
F3 does indeed initiate AI versus AI so thank you for that. Just for the sake of anybody trying to use this feature having read the "old" manual, I should say that pressing F3 at any time during your own turn does not seem to actually initiate immediate AI versus AI play as per the manual. The way I have so far made it happen is by initiating a single player game and pressing F3 during the AI's turn. The AI then completes its own turn and then takes over from the start of the next human player turn and will continue until you press F3 again. I have not experimented with whether the AI relinquishes control part way through a turn but I rather expect that it might only take over or give up at the beginning or end of a turn. Perhaps Bill or Hubert could correct me if I am wrong.
Regards
Mike

I normally press F3 once the main screen is up, as then when you go to start a new single player it will start playing straight away once you've gone through the options screens.
