Hi, After looking for quite some time I have not found any reference to this. Is it possible to edit a save game file. (versus AI not PBEM)

OK thanks. I am too far into this current game but before I play another versus the AI there are a few changes I am going to make. (my personal taste nothing dramatic) I can edit the scenario and then place it in a slot where only versus the AI. I am not going to have the little guys replacements shut off on the historic dates. It is enough they stop when Japan captures their manpower centers. Also since I am playing against the AI I am going to unrestrict the Dutch. It bothers me that in order for the Dutch to move they must first place the unit under a foreign HQ and then cannot regain control. The result is if one of these units recaptures a lost Dutch base it goes to ABDA and then the production centers stop working. There is no way to change HQ back
In Burma the production just stops.
The AI is not restricted and simply brute forces its way through the SRA. Bataan faced 5 Div and a Bde while simultaneously Singapore faced 9 Div and Rangoon 3. Of course these units came out of China and Manchukuo allowing the Chinese some counter play in the South West (In the North and East Japan still has at least 2 massive herds)

Actually, it is possible to a limited extent. You can edit some things, but not others.

For example, you can edit an update to a ship class, or to a land unit formation. AFTER
the NEXT Japanese turn starts (it updates both sides), these updates will be in the save game
file. They will take effect the next time a land unit or naval unit updates.

Similarly, one can edit or add aircraft. However, one may NOT add a NEW aircraft. It will show
up on the list but not be functional except in a new game start.

You're playing the AI right? So just reload the turn, do what you need to and save again....GP

Oh, I understand now. No, to fix things like the Dutch replacements you have to do it before you start the scenario....GP

Just to clarify a little bit more, you cannot edit Scen 1 thru 20 which are stock. If you are playing a mod you can do so, to some degree.

I thought it was up to slot 25 that are reserved, but I'm going from memory.

Even in cases where you have edited scenario files there are some things which can be updated mid-game and some which cannot be updated mid-game. Don't remember well about which items so will wait for someone else to comment.

Hi, I discovered how easy it is to edit a scenario. Then I discovered how hard is is to stop editing a scenario. I think before beginning a PBEM game we give edit points to each side. and they decide what they wish to change. Better then House rules you just fix what bothers you the most.
