R&D to Production

OK, so I had something happen recently that I hadn't seen before. R&D for the first George was coming to a production date in my game. I had six R&D sites all at level 30, 100% repaired and the engine bonus as well, although don't see how that would cause what happened.
The day came for the A/C to go into operation. I wanted five of the sites to continue R&D with the six going straight to production. With that in mind I had the option columns, upgd/repair/prod, set to yes/yes/no with the exception of the last site which was yes/yes/yes. With these settings I expected only one R&D site to 'flip' to production. Well to my chagrin all six went to production, 'yellow', without an option to revert back to R&D.
Re-ran the turn with all six set to 'no' for production and the following turn all 'flipped' to production, but with the 'blue' color and I was able to revert the five I wanted to save as R&D, back to R&D (normal).
So I'm wondering here why the first option didn't work as expected?
Anyone know anything about this? Have you seen it before? Is it a glitch, anomaly, bug, something I did?

If it's not too late, you can switch them back, do not advance a turn, or if you've saved the first day of the month turn go back to it and you can assign them new R&D targets.

By the way, that's a huge investment in George's there. Good planes, but will you have enough qualified pilots to fly them?

On the first day of the month where they are activated, the R&D factories show up in your active factory list, even though you have not ordered them to produce. Click on the factory and it will give you a list of researchable aircraft to assign to it, then it will return to the R&D factory list. Do not panic.

I manually advance them to the next model.

I think you want upgrade to be set to "no" to prevent this from happening. I say "I think" because I had the same problem with Rufe's once and since I was playing 2 day turns I had 4 Rufe's in inventory before I had a chance to change anything. But, as this is my opinion a game expert may know the real answer.

I don't see the investment as huge. Its the first 'good' plane that Japan can get, and I have plenty of qualified pilots to fly them.

As you may be aware not all A/C become 'active' on the first of the month. As in my case the aircraft showed up about March 10th.
I'm fully aware of how it is supposed to work (see highlighted). I'm just saying how it worked in this particular instance and was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. It didn't seem WAD to me. I can see I need to go back and see if I still have the saves in order to get a few screen shots so as to be very specific as to just what happened.

Generally speaking that's what I normally do. Just wanted to try something in this case to see how it'd work. Obviously it didn't.

I totally agree, but in this case I wanted one of the six to go to production. Therefore I had five of the R&D sites set to 'no' for production with the sixth set to 'yes'. Problem is when the turn flipped they all went to production with no option to 'flip' any back to R&D.

I said set UPGRADE to no, you set PRODUCTION to no - there's a difference. And, again, I'm not certain that this is the fix you're looking for. Manual is the only way to go.

Sorry, you may have something here, again if I still have the saves I'll give it a try. Thanks.

OK, so this is what happened. In the first shot you can see the George is about to flip to operational. The way I had it set I thought five would remain R&D while one went to production. What actually happened was they all went to production with no option to revert to R&D.

OK, whatever its an AI game, no biggie.

So I go back and change all to 'no' for production. And then, tah-dah.

All go to production but now I have the ability to revert what I want to R&D.
