What is Normalization?

I see Normalization or Normalized in the editor. I decided to go with a 7-day cycle but I don't want to overdo the MPP collection. I want to have what the game considers a historic MPP. I set Normalized as 14 days (because I saw that as the default in the default 1939 scenario--it was grayed out but I assumed that "was" the normal MPP collection). Does that sound reasonable? What exactly does Normalized mean, besides the dictionary description? Thank you!

7.20. industrial Modifier
note: The default in campaigns like 1939 Storm over
Europe is to have longer winter turns and shorter
summer turns. This has the effect of meaning
that less income is received in winter. If this isn’t
desired then campaigns can be amended to use
the Normalized Production option which ensures
that production per time period is more balanced
in campaigns with variable seasonal turn lengths.
Its effect will be to increase production in winter
turns and decrease it in summer turns.

Thank you very much for replying :)

I believe I understood what you wrote, but may not understand the nuances (newbie here).
For instance, how can winter turns be longer if all turns last 14 days?
If I make a game that has 7-day simultaneous turns throughout the years and don't touch the "Normalized" options, will that just give me a longer lasting campaign with no other changes?
I essentially just want a longer game, but I don't want to give anyone extra MPP.

Also, if I pick 10-day turns will all events (scripts) still fire? I picked 7-day turns because I thought there was a possibility that events would not fire (default turn is 14-days therefore I though I'd always fire scripts).

I find doing this (so I think) is easier that editing the end date. There are about 100 of those to edit.

If turns are the same length throughout the year, then you don't need to use the normalized function, it's only for when they aren't the same.

Great. Thanks to both of you for explaining it to me. Have a good day!
